Shakti Vahini set up a legal aid cell in Delhi

Major objectives

• To provide legal help to women in distress particularly in Rape Cases, Dowry Problems and Sexual
  Harrasment Cases.
• To fight Public Interest Litigation in the High Court and Supreme Court.
• To educate the general public on Consumer Rights, Environmental Rights and Human Rights.

Activities undertaken

• Presently filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court on child Prostitution and absence of
  rehabilitation policy of the Government of India.
• Crisis Intervention Centre for Rape victims launched in Faridabad.
• Study on Street Children undertaken.
• Posters on Women’s Rights Released
• Several cases of Violence against women taken up in Faridabad.
• Human Rights violation of Sex Workers taken up with the National Human Rights Commission - Notice Issued in 4 cases.
• Working in collaboration with Delhi Commission for Women and National Commission for Women on the Rights of the Sex Workers.
• Talk shows on crime against women initiated in Girls Colleges.
• Booklet on Consumer Rights released.
• Report on Human Rights violation of Prisoners being prepared.
